Glass etching technique

Hi there,

I hope you're doing fine. It's been crazy here. I only work half time at the moment, and I have the impression that I have even less time for me than before...

Anyway, I'm following the last online class at online card classes. It's called 'A Cut Above' and it's all about die cutting, both traditional and with silhouette studio. This class is really awesome. The 'live' class is almost over, but you can still register and will have a lifetime access to it.

So, yesterday was our 4th wedding anniversary. I made a little search on the internet and found that it was the 'noces de cire'. I don't know how to translate that expression, but it leans to the symbol for the fourth anniversary is wax. So in addition to his present, I customized a candle for my husband.
I followed Kristina's tutorial from the class and created a monogram in silhouette studio. I cut it from vinyl and then used some etching cream.

You can see it better on this picture.

On the other side I put two hearts and it's says '4 years' below.

This project was fun, and I really like the subtle result.

Please leave a comment to say what you think about it.

Hugs,
Hélène

Creative Chemistry 101 - Day 3

Hi there,

Wow, third post in a week, it's been such a long time since I craft that much... me happy^^

Well, I'm REALLY enjoyed this class, it's soooo cool to learn from the master himself!

Today was all about Archival inks. These are more versatile than I thought... really, I used only black and brown to ink my images that I'll watercolor!

I have those inks for a couple of month and never used them before... but I will now!
Tag 1 is the Alcohol Ink Agates Technique. This is a really fun technique, I love the result! This has to be my favorite so far...

Tag 2 is Archival Resist Technique. As I only owned a black and a brown one, I tried this technique with my red Brilliance ink and a white Stazon and it worked just fine... but I definitly will buy more of those Archival...

Tag 3 is Stamping with Reflections Technique. This is really great combined with texture folders, I love the texture and those stamps are awesomefor a lot of other techniques as well.

Thanks for stopping by,

Please leave me a comment so I can go and see your work too,

Hugs

Creative chemistry 101 - Day 2

Hi guys,

I'm back with my day 2 tags!
Day 2 was all about Distress Inks and the amazing properties of those inks.

Here's a peak at what I've done.

First tag Israël the blended distress and spritz& flick technique.

Second tag is the brushless watercolor technique. This is a quick way to achieve a watercolor look.

And last one is the wrinkle-free distress technique.

I had a lot of fun doing these, now I'm back on my craft room to make day 3 tags, this time we'll be working on Archival!

Thanks for reading this

Leave me a message so I can go and see you work too ...

Creative chemistry 101 - Day 1

Hi there,

Have you heard of this class? This is on the online card classes website and it's fantastic (as were the previous classes...)

If you haven't signed up already, go go go, you'll have a lifetime acces to the class!
Learning thoses techniques and info from Tim Holtz is awesome. As I live in Belgium, I don't have the possibility to have a live class with him, but this online class is really amazing!

Well, as usual, I'm a little behind with my homeworks, but here's day 1 homework.
I did fine, but was unable to find out if Stazon is dye or pigment, nor if brilliance was water or oil based... anyone can help on that?

I already make two of the three tags for day 2, I'll try to post them later today. As I'm off work, I hope I can finish the third one and make those of day 3 as well.

Thanks for reading this

A very special delivery

Hi there,

Two weeks ago, my cousins had a cute baby boy. I wantd to make a card to welcome him! When I saw this stamp at Lili of the valley, I knew it was the one.

For a change, I wanted a CAS feel, but I wasn't sure if I could achieve that with this kind of stamp...

I kept a lot of white space, and add a piece of blue color core cardstock. I embossed it with a dot embossing folder and sand it to reveal the blue coe. I think the texture add a bit of interest to the card.
The sentiment is the one which comes with the stamp and is white embossed on a blue cardstock.
The little bear is colored with my copic markers.

Let me know what you think and don't forget to leave a message in the post below to enter y blog candy.

Clean & Simple Card making - Day 1

Hi again,

I always wanted to try the clean and simple style, but was a bit afraid that my cards would look empty. But Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner teamed up with Julie Ebersole to give us a new class at Online Card Classes, so it was the perfect opportunity for me to learn with those amazing ladies!

I already took two classes with them and it was so intersting that when I saw they were making a CAS class, I signed up right away... The classes are really great, with PDFs and videos that you can download, a forum where they answer all your questions and also a lifetime access, so even if you don't have the time now, you can go later!

Today is the first day and I made this card following Kristina's tutorial.

I used Hero Arts note card in Light blue, and I stamped the Hero Arts Flower Dot Background with soft stone shadow ink. I used a sentiment I had in my stash (don't remeber where I got it) and I heat embossed it.

So what do you think?

Happy birthday

Good morning,

Long time no see, but I have a good excuse ;-)
I was pregnant and I had to stay in the couch most of the time, so no craft for a long time :-( but it worth it, I now have the most beautiful baby in the world by my side ^^
I'll do a blog candy to celebrate that, I'll post about it later this week.

Anyway, I did make a card for my cousin's birthday.
I used this sweet Tilda for the first time, even though she's in my stash for quite a while now... so many uninked stamps are waiting for me...
I also tried to color with Prisma pencils. I never used this technique before and there's sill a lot to learn, but it's not as difficult as I thought.

I made a pocket card using Gio's tutorial at WoJ nspiration blog.

I'm entering some challenges :
